Sobre este artículo
Washington: United States Government Printing Office. Very Good. 1876. Hardcover portfolio. 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 7 pages; 1876 United States Government Printing Office. The portfolio atlas of 1876 with seven folding maps published to accompany Appendix JJ of Wheeler's ongoing survey. Housed in the original quarter cloth backed folding case with printed paper covered sides and one ribbon tie still present. The maps are very well preserved, and are generally sized 24 x 19 inches. They appear undisplayed and unhandled with no wear to creases. Together, the maps cover parts of Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico. The case has significan silverfish preadtion to the cloth spine and edges of the paper covered boards; there is significant loss to the cloth at spine. Only Map numbered 1 in the sequence (Atlas Sheet 61B) has any biopredation evidence, a small pencil head silverfished holed in the bottom margin. The topographical atlas sheets are attractively colored in ochre and green. The maps are generally in NF condition with only some mild toning to one folded square of the blank side. The case is in fair condition only. Maps are complete as enumerated in the descriptive Note on the sheet mounted to the front pastedown of the case. They are as follows: Central Colorado, atlas sheet no. 61 (B) --Southwestern Colorado, atlas sheet 61 C --S. W. Colorado, San Juan mining region, atlas sheet no. 61(C) --North central New Mexico, atlas sheet no. 69(D) --Parts of central and western Arizona, atlas sheet no. 75 --Parts of eastern Arizona and western New Mexico, atlas sheet no. 76 --Parts of eastern and south eastern Arizona, western and south western New Mexico, atlas sheet no. 83. .
