Nicholson, Printer, for the House of Representatives 33rd Congress 1st session. Ex Doc 121. Included here are 3 of the 4 volumes printed summarizing the findings of the Gilliss led expedition. The planned publications of volumes IV and V were not published - with work done later issued in supplemetary form. Included here are Vols I, II and VI - lacking only Vol III of the 4 volumes published. Paged xiii, [2], 556; ix, [3], 300; xlvii, 420 pp. This set is collated; complete in contents with all plates and maps present. Includes a large foldout panorama view with hand color added lithograph of Santiago from Santa Luciain Vol I (Chile). 15 hand colored bird plates in Vol II. All other plates, maps and views are present. Uniformly bound in 1/2 olive green calf over marbled paper covered boards with black leather title labels to spines and vol #s in blind apparently with gilt rubbed away. Prior ownership of a University literary society with bookplates to front pastedowns but no evidence of library accession and no attachments or labels aside from some period small paper labels to spine at crown. Volumes bumped at crowns with light cracks to leather of 2 volumes. Some light to moderate foxing and toning to endpages; contents generally bright and very neat. Soundly bound with light handling rub to leather at extremities. VG thus ... Oversize book will require additional charges for expedited or international shipping. .
