A translation of a classical Sinhalese story of the Buddha's birth in a previous life, traditionally attributed to a 14th-century Buddhist priest from Tanjore. Yatawara used the Sinhalese text published at Colombo in 1874 rather than the Pali text because of this text's literary significance amongst Sinhalese classics.
