Sobre este artículo
Vienna: Internationaler Psychoanalytischer Verlag,, 1930. First edition, first printing, cloth issue. In this study, Freud "gave the fullest account of his views in the field of sociology, one which, as he said elsewhere, 'can be nothing other than applied psychology'" (Jones, p. 364). The first translation into English was published later that year by the Hogarth Press. Analysing the conflict between an individual's instinctive needs and the constraints and demands of society, the book "emphasized the continuance of hostile impulses within developed societies... Aggression against the father was repressed by the incorporated parental image, the superego. This repression was institutionalized in social justice. Discontent was an inevitable aspect of civilization because, even though Oedipal aggression had been repressed, the wish had not; and the wish had the same power to produce guilt that the act did" (DSB, vol. 5, p. 178). Octavo. Original yellow cloth, spine and front board lettered in blue. Text in German. Spine lettering a little faded; a crisp clean copy, square and bright. Grinstein 233. Ernest Jones, Sigmund Freud: Life and Work, vol. 3, 1957.
