Freud's treatise on how the principles of psychoanalysis can be applied to industrialized societies. One of Freud's most significant works, a sharp examination of the demands of civilized society pitted humankind's innate desires and instincts. The Norman entry cites a special focus on the Eros instinct and on what the auction cataloger refers to as "the death instinct" Rubbing to the lettering on the front board, a bookplate on the free front endpaper.
