The U.S. Army conducted experiments in the 1850's regarding the utilization of camels for expeditions in the American Southwest. These two journals give an excellent insight into the day-to-day activity and field perspective on the experiment. An excellent work presenting the colorful history of this experiment. A Fine, bright copy. The scarce dust jacket has light rubbing to edges, near Fine. Ex-library copy with stamp on lower portion of title page.
