Sobre este artículo

Uncle Tom's Cabin or: Life Among the Lowly by Harriet Beecher Stowe Two Hundred and Thirty-Third Thousand Boston: John P. Jewett and Company, and Cleveland, Ohio, 1853. (probably a second edition; the first edition from the same publisher released 1852.) Entered according to act of Congress, 1851. Preface, Contents. Main text in double columns page 5-166. Two pages of adds.

bound with:

A Key to Uncle Tom's Cabin Facts and Documents upon which the story is founded. Together with collaborative statements verifying the truth of the work by Harriet Beecher Stowe. Boston: John B. Jewett & Co. and Cleveland, Ohio. Entered according to the act of congress, 1853. Appears to be a first edition and first printing of this title with no mention of subsequent printings, and the dates on the title page and verso match. Title page, verso, Preface, Main text in double columns, 5-256, Appendix, Index.

Condition: Overall about very good. Binding is solid and pages are all present and accounted for. No endpapers. Some spotting to title page and first few pages of Uncle Tom's Cabin. chip to page 13/14 in lower corner with loss. Scattered spotting here and there but overall not too bad. The Key is cleaner, much less spotting. vertical chip to side of 259 of Appendix, with slight loss. Still overall a tremendously desirable book even with the shortcoming.

A very unique item. The novel and the key were most often bound separately, the latter as a pamphlet. A chance to own for a fraction of the first edition both books together from the time the novel was originally published. Some dealers ask $500+ for the key alone.

NOTE: The pictures are of the actual item for sale. (The pictures are NOT stock photos.)

NOTE on USPS Shipping: For items costing $100+, I only ship priority mail because of expensive items experiencing long delays shipped media mail. I ship on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays sometimes on Friday. I do not ship on Mondays and Saturdays.
