Sobre este artículo
New York: Cosmopolitan Book Corp., 1926. First Edition. . Hardcover. Fair To Good. Hichens, a popular English author who wrote several bestselling novels in the 1920s and 30s, was able to move easily from satire to fantasy to horror to detective fiction. "The Unearthly," titled "The God Within Him," in England, is an example of Hichens' work in religious fantasy, the occult and the paranormal. It features a young woman, Imogen Lowrie, a member of what would probably be the "jet set" today, flitting aimlessly about Europe until she meets and becomes entranced by an intense young sculptor, Peter Kharkoff, who seems to be able to direct his thoughts into others' minds, making them "prisoners of his mind." First printing, First U.S. Edition. About 5 x 7 1/2 inches, 520 pages dark blue cloth-covered boards with title/author box on front cover bordered in light blue with light blue lettering in box and on spine. Sorry, dustjacket is missing. Boards are bumped and worn at corners and along edges with three tiny tears at bottom of spine. Front hinge beginning to loosen; rear hinge intact. In upper corner of fep, a 1/2 x 2 inch area where apparently a small label covering an earlier price was removed, as well as previous owner's last name in ink in center of page. Text edges lightly soiled, o/w clean, unmarked and complete. Overall, a quite decent reading copy.
