Sobre este artículo

[Hartford?, 1860. 20pp. Caption title [as issued], disbound. Scattered foxing, light vertical fold, Good+.

The Democratic State Central Committee urges support of a national Democrat for the presidency in this crucial election which would split the Democrats into Northern and Southern branches.
Eaton denounces Lincoln, Seward, and Connecticut Republicans for "John Brown Republicanism" and warns that a Republican presidency will destroy the Union. Slavery was "the most vexed and disturbing issue which presented itself" to the Founders. Their compromise was effected "by utterly ignoring the moral view of the question, regarding only its political character."
Americans must follow the same course today. But the "Brown Republican Party" is flouting that wise decision. The prime example is Lincoln's House Divided speech, which he gave in the 1858 Senate campaign when he "was most essentially flogged by Senator Douglas."
Sabin [after] 21746. Not in Monaghan, LCP, Bartlett.
