Contemporary half calf over marbled boards; extremities of spine slightly chipped, corners bumped.  Valuable account of ancient Russia. The present work provides useful information on the Ugric lands (a region historically located between the Pechora River and the northern Urals), commerce with Muscovy, trade routes, the invasion of the Mongols, and the Russian conquest of Siberia. It also covers calendar reforms and the waterfalls of the Dniepr river, now located in Ukraine. Aaron Christian Lehrberg (1770—1813) was born in Tartu, today’s Estonia, and studied in Germany to become a historian. His research was focused on ancient Russian history, geography and genealogy.
