New York: Harper & Row, 1963 Approximately 41.5 x 48.5 inches, printed on one side only so not the entire book, title page and endpaper excised, two tears with tape repair, some foxing. An uncommon printers proof for one of the most important picture books of the 20th Century which was award the Caldecott Medal in 1964. This copy has been inscribed by Maurice Sendak to Alice Bierhorst in 1975 and includes a drawing of Sendak's character, Rosie. The inscription reads: "For Alice - with love! Maurice Sendak + Rosie!
