Printed dustjacket mildly nipped and edgeworn, with several short closed tears, and sunning to spine. George Pendle (1906-1977), having spent almost three decades in the area, was considered to be Britain's foremost authority on the River Plate region of South America. After the original publication of this title, the author revisited Uruguay for further study of the country, the result being this much rewritten and expanded second edition. Contents include: Prelims., Preface, 11 chapters, Appendices x 5, Bibliography, Maps, Index.
