First US edition. A charming story of a young girl and her dog, a little black Scotch Terrier puppy named Smut, as they go about their lives, encountering other dogs, policemen, and even horses. Cecil Aldin was a British artist best known for his paintings and sketches of animals and rural life, all of which is magnificently captured in this delightful tale.
