Nearly 100 years after the first converted rifles were purchased by the Navy, a workable conversion device was developed for the M16 Rifle. With the exception of the M16 adapters and a relatively few competition rifles, nearly all of the rifles in this book have been disposed of or transferred to the Civilian Marksmanship Program. This book is an attempt to chronicle this facet of United States martial firearms development. The author is a well-established martial firearms collector and authority. Postwar rifles covered include the Mossberg Model, 144US, the Winchester Model 52 series, the REMing ton Models 511-P, 40-X, 521 and 541-X, M16 Conversions, the H and R Model 5200, the Kimber Model 82 Government and miscellaneous rifles. A comprehensive appendix of rifle data is included in the book.
