First Edition. Uncommon. The author was a lawyer, scientist, secretary to England’s Royal Society, and an authority on Polar explorations. His tour of North America included Boston, Ogdensburg, Prescott, Kingston, Cobourg, Peterborough, Lakefield, Montreal, Quebec, Toronto, Niagara, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Columbus, Washington, Richmond, Baltimore, and New York. Topics range from life in the Canadian back woods to slavery in the American south. The volume is dedicated to his half-brother, Isaac Weld, whose Travels Through…North America (1799) excited so much interest fifty-five years earlier. TPL 3620. Howes W-234.
