KIRKWALL: W.R.MACKINTOSH, The Orcadian Office, 1930 Navy Blue cloth boards with gilt blocked titles and line decs to spine and front, 240 x 160 mm approx. 200 pp. Portrait frontis. First Edition 1930 inscribed and signed by the author in ink to the free front end paper and with an annotated printed card pasted to the reverse of page 15 with picture of the author at the helm and giving a precise/ review of the book. Also pasted to the rear free end paper is a reproduction of a pencil illustration for the cover of the book. Frank Cowper was an English yachtsman, author and journalist who was influential in popularising single-handed cruising. He has been credited as "the forefather of modern cruising", and his books "laid the foundation" of the pilot guides used by yachtsmen today. (Wikipedia).
