Sobre este artículo
New York: Macmillan, 1974. First edition. 8vo, 215pp, inscribed on dedication page, red cloth lettered in black, owner inscription on ffep, near fine, jacket has some wear on spine and one small tear, otherwise near fine, carbon copy of a letter and copy of Massacre at Gnadenhutten laid in front cover.
Dedication copy of this historical fiction work that details the massacre of the The Moravian Indians of the Ohio Country. This copy has a charming inscription to Charlotte Huck on the dedication page: "Because, like Old Tobias for his son, you've had good hopes of me - and that makes all the difference. With love, Janet." From the library of children's literature expert and Ohio State University professor, Charlotte Huck (1922-2005). Huck served on both the Caldecott and Newbery Honor committees and authored the standard textbook, Children's Literature in the Elementary School. In 2014, the National Council of Teachers of English established an award in her honor, each year recognizing a transformative, compassionate work of children's fiction.
Laid in the front cover is a letter that Huck wrote to the manager of the book and gift center at the Ohio Historical Center advocating that he read and stock the novel in his shop. She also laid in Massacre at Gnadenhutten, reprinted by the Gnadenhutten Historical Society in 1963..
