Sobre este artículo
Small folio (14x9 1/2), original green gilt cloth, illustrated with 43 (of 48) color plates. Binding worn at the spine and extremities, spine with a few splits and chips, one text page loose, with some edge tears; plates generally bright and clean. Vanity Fair was founded by Thomas Gibson Bowles (AKA Jehu Junior) in 1868. The first issue appeared in 1869, and this magazine would continue through 1913. Bowles wrote much of the humorous and racy commentary in the early years. Despite presenting humorous caricatures of people, along with gossip about them, most people seemed to be were flattered to be selected to be in Vanity Fair. This copy is missing five plates, but the 43 plates that are present are in nice condition. DNB.
