Illustrated with an engraved frontisportrait of Matthew Vassar, and numerous in-text vignettes. Affected by moderate foxing throughout the text. Ex-libris, with institutional discard label on the inside front cover, a remnant of a check-out label on the rear endpaper, four small numerals on a page of preface, and minor call number removal evidence at the bottom of the spine.
