Curtis Hussey Veeder (1862-1943) was a mechanical engineer who in 1895 patented a cyclometer for measuring the distance traveled by bicycles and established the Veeder Manufacturing Co. in Hartford, Ct. The firm expanded to produce odometers, counters, tachodometers, and tachometers. It merged with the Root Co. to form Veeder-Root in 1928. Scarce.
