New York: Scribner and Welford, 1880. Hardcover. Very Good. Folio, xviii, 317p. Half red morocco over marbled boards. Gilt lettered and decorated spine compartments with raised bands. Bands are rubbed, with rubbing to head and heel of spine and joints. Some scuffing to board edges and corners. The binding is tight and square, with red cloth reinforced hinges. All edges gilt, marbled endpapers. Tissue guarded frontis illustration. Christmas gift inscription within a blank red decorated half-title. With numerous full page plates and in-text illustrations in b/w, and a two page birds eye view of Venice. Translated from the French by F.J. Sitwell.
