The splendid large plates are painted by the author. Very clean and tight inside, with no prior owner marks, no foxing or browning. .

Minor foxing and tanning to pages and plates. Noticeably more prominent to text block edges, pastedowns and free endpapers. Pen inscription to front pastedown and free endpaper. Light cracking and creasing to gutters; some looseness to binding but pages remain attached. Book is slightly bowed and forward leaning with visible tanning and scuffing overall. Spine has heavier mottling and tanning with soft crushing to ends. Sticker to front board.

Black and white illustrations throughout and colour illustration plates. Ex libris plate at front. Pages remain bright and clean with minimal tanning and foxing. Binding slightly loose. Boards have moderate shelf wear with mild bumping and fraying to corners and crushing and fraying to spine ends. All surfaces tanned and sunned, particularly spine. Boards are slightly bowed.
