Sobre este artículo

Chicago: Charles M. Hertig, 1880. HB. Green blindstamped cloth, gilt lettering on spine, 12mo, 376 pp., yellow endpapers. Fictional account of the head of a shipping and railroad family and the contesting of the father's will upon his death. Based on the events surrounding the death of Cornelius Vanderbilt (1794-1877), and possibly written by his second son, Cornelius Jeremiah Vanderbilt, who contested the will that left the bulk of the estate to his older brother William. From The Literary World, November 5, 1880: this book is "an attack upon the Vanderbilt family...Two Boston printers declined to print or publish it through fear of suits for libel; and one of them destroyed the stereotype plates prepared for its production." Wright, L.H. Amer. Fiction, 1876-1900, 5672. Small stamped pair of feet (?) on ffep, no other marks in book, binding tight. Covers show very minor edge wear. Book condition VG. Scarce work, OCLC locates 6 copies.
