Rubbing to ends of spine. 1/2" x 1/4" chip missing at head of spine. 1/2" split at head of front spine joint. Loss of outer cloth along front spine joint. Large scratch to cloth of front board. 2" split to cloth along tail of front spine joint. Series of 1/4" tears along tail of spine. Up to 1/4" loss of cloth at corners of boards. ; xxiv, 513 pages + advertisements. Brown cloth boards with paper spine label. Page dimensions: 222mm x 136mm. "Some time ago, one of the most accomplished of our public men invited me to write to him on a question relating to the colonies. This question really involved the whole subject of colonization and colonial government. The correspondence that ensued, was neither intended nor suitable for publication; but it was shown confidentially to various persons.
