Sobre este artículo
Philadelphia,, 1797. "Issued in reply to criticism on Monroe's French mission. Monroe in turn blames Washington" - Howes M-727; Evans 32491. A highly interesting tract. Monroe looked favorably on the French Revolution and even went so far as to overlook some of the atrocities that subsequently took place. However, despite his refusal to defend the vicious attacks by the French on the Washington/Adams administrations, especially concerning the Jay Treaty with England, he failed to win friends and influence the French. He was soon recalled home. This is his self-vindication in print. Some moderate wear and foxing and some light marginal staining to the preliminaries. A very good copy.. First Edition. 3/4 Brown Calf. Very Good. 8vo..
