A nice copy in period dress. THE FIRST PSYCHIATRIC BOOK PUBLISHED IN AMERICA. The first American edition reprints the second British Edition text of the previous year. Trotter was a Scottish naval surgeon who wrote the first medical treatise on Alcoholism, which he considered a mental disease. Hunter & Macalpine p. 588; Austin 1929. Not in Waller.
