Sobre este artículo
Raleigh: Printed by Bell & Lawrence, Printers to the State, 1826. First Edition First Printing . Soft cover. Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Octavo. 11 pages. Soft cover. Stitched pamphlet with a simple string tie at the spine The binding is worn with creases and chips along the edges. Several dam spots at the fore edge and at the bottom of the title page (which is the front cover). Browning and foxing to the text. The issue was the claims of members and descendants of the Continental Line during the American Revolution who were supposed to receive land grants in the western part of Carolina, afterwards Tennessee. George Edmund Badger (1795-1866) was a superior court judge, Secretary of the Navy, and was a U.S. Senator, originally from New Bern, North Carolina. In 1828 he supported Andrew Jackson as President, but he opposed the National Bank, so he joined the newly formed Whig Party. In 1840 he was appointed as Secretary of the Navy, and he did much to modernize the Navy, setting the foundation for the Atlantic Fleet and investing in research for new types of Ordinance and weapons. At the outset of the Civil War he was a delegate from Wake County to the Secession Convention of 1861. Quite Scare. NOT FOUND IN THORNTON.

Sobre Pages Past Used and Rare Books
Pages Past is a small used & rare bookshop located a few blocks from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Since 1996 we have been serving the Triad community as well as customers from around the world. We have around 15-20,000 volumes in our shop. We specialize in North Carolina, Virginia, Civil War, Old Leather, Christianity, Eastern and Western Philosophies, and the simply unusual. We very likely have the oldest books in Greensboro; we keep a nice selection of antiquarian volumes and scholarly books.
