From 1772 to 1776, Moore accompanied the young 8th Duke of Hamilton, Douglas, and his own son on the journey across Europe.An exciting work looking at the society and manners of Italy in the mid-eighteenth century.Moore was a Scottish physician, also known for his novels and travel works.The fifth edition of this work.Prior owner's ink inscription to the front pastedowns and to the recto to the front free endpapers. In a full marbled calf binding. Externally, generally, smart. Light cracks to the joints. A little loss and wear to the spine labels. Minor marks to the boards and spines, spines are a little discoloured. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spines and to the extremities. Front hinge of Volume I is starting a little but remains firm. Prior owner's ink inscription to the front pastedowns and to the recto to the front free endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and clean with the odd scattered spot. Very Good

Where are We?
Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
