Sobre este artículo

London: Chapman and Hall,, 1930. Handsomely bound First edition, first impression, of Waugh's second novel, a satire of London's rich young socialites. The working title, Bright Young Things, was abandoned as Waugh felt the phrase was too clichéd. It sold well on publication, reaching seven printings in as many weeks, and established Waugh as the pre-eminent novelist of his generation. Octavo. Finely bound by the Chelsea Bindery in crimson morocco, spine lettered and decorated in gilt, raised bands, single rule to boards gilt, twin rule to turn-ins gilt, dark green endpapers, gilt edges. Black and red decorative title page. A fine copy.

Sinopsis

Vile Bodies is a 1930 novel by Evelyn Waugh satirising decadent young London society between World War I and World War II. The title comes from the Epistle to the Philippians 3:21. The book was originally to be called "Bright Young Things" (which went on to be the title of Stephen Fry's 2003 film); Waugh changed it because he decided the phrase had become too clichéd.
