"During the last few months, upwards of twelve hundred copies of the "Village Musings" have been put into circulation; and the author has the satisfaction of knowing that his little book has produced an impression in his favour, far beyond what he had anticipated" (Preface to Second Edition). The list of subscribers to this edition appears on pages 189 - 207, some 1100 subscribers.
