Headpieces and initials in color silkscreen by Alfred Pellan. 6 half-tone illustrations hors texte, including a portrait of Chomedy de Maisonneuve by Adrien Hébert. Bound in original illustrated dust jacket (designed by Madeleine Kehoe) and protected in embossed translucent paper wraps and buckram slip case with blue leather spine, titled in gilt. Dust jacket frayed along top edge, and slip case in rough condition with leather deteriorating from spine. Text and wrappers virtually mint, with minor separation at upper hinge. # 106 in an edition of 500, this copy inscribed to "la ville de Montréal."

Paean to Montreal, Quebec, and its rich history published upon the occasion of the 300th anniversary of settlement (1642-1942). The stellar roster of contributors under the direction of Victor Barbeau includes historians, artists, journalists, poets, and playwrights.
