This is a fine, leather-bound antique edition of "THE VISION; or Hell, Purgatory, and Paradise" by Dante Alighieri. 1860; Henry G. Bohn; London. EARLY HENRY FRANCIS CARY TRANSLATION (Cary's 1st translation was published in 1814); New Edition, Corrected. The book features leather covers, a beautiful hubbed spine with gilt decorations, marbled end papers and a marbled text block on all sides, and a frontispiece portrait of Dante. Includes the "Life of Dante" as well as a "Chronological View of the Age of Dante."

Condition:
There are some tiny white stain specks on the front cover; clean back cover; the spine label has partially chipped; bright gilt designs on the spine. Tight binding. The text pages are in great condition with no foxing, stains or tears; there is a name in pencil at the top of the title page - no other writing found. The front end paper is detached 3/4 of the way down from the top.
