Edinburgh, Scotland / London, England: Edinburgh / London, UK: Printed for Fairbairn & Anderson ( Successors to Mr Creech ) and G & W B Whittaker, Darton & Co., W Darton, Jr. (printed By Walker & Greig ), 1818, 1st Edition, First printing , 1818. ----------hardcover, about 3.5 x 5.5 inches, leather bound, a Good copy only, rubbing and staining to the leather, two inch section of the upper part of the spine is gone, crack along the spine and front cover fold but still very much attached, ink name and date " James Black Sept. 18th, 1821 " on front blank endpaper, both covers sport the stamp / logo / motto / emblem for George Heriot School " I Distribute cheerfully", some loss to the gilt of the emblem, this likely once belonged to a former student of GHS and was not likely from the GHS library as there are no indications of school ownership, 171 pages, b&w frontispiece of Edinburgh is intact although there is a very slight trim along the fore edge side of the frontispiece, a sound copy of a rare book, ---there is no author indicated but the book mentions in quite a few spots the Marchmont family and especially Lucy Marchmont and the final page ends with the name Maria Woodville so maybe Woodville was the author, any image directly beside this listing is the actual book and not a generic photo ///NOT SIGNED ---GUARANTEED to be AVAILABLE///---sizes are approximate (generally within 1/8 inch)---. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good (see description)/No Jacket as issued. Illus. by Leather Bound. 3.5w 5.5h Inches.
