A Voyage Round the World, in the Years 1785, 1786, 1787, and 1788, 3 volumes

Poor. 3 volumes, 8vo, curiously bound by an amateur in late 19th century marbled boards, handpainted and handlettered paper covered spines that have been varnished, and with endpapers using what appears to be a fancy 1930s map of Paris in gold & colors. Of the 42 maps and plates supposed to be present, we count 33: Vol. 1 has frontispiece, 3 folding maps and folding plate; Vol. 2 has 3 maps and 19 plates, many of which are folding, appears to lack the frontispiece map; Vol. 3 has 6 plates or maps, all folding. Many of the maps have old tape beginning to yellow, or dampstaining, or other issues; some of the plates and maps in good to very good condition. Text seems to be complete and in generally good to very good condition, text block trimmed on all three sides. We've noticed in auction records on rarebookhub that some of the plates and maps have sold separately for as much as the low hundreds and that might be the eventual fate of some of these plates: you have our blessing. As it is, a sorry example of a famous voyage.
