Voyages en Amerique et en Italie in 2 volumes, Brussels: Tence Freres, 1828. 16mo, early edition, pp. lxxxv, 324; 446, marbled paper-covered boards quarter-bound in sheep with gilt lettering to spines, edges speckled red, text in French. Volumes 6 and 7 of Chateaubriand's complete works, covering his travels in America and Italy. The America reports were first published in 1826. Their accuracy came into question in the 20th century, especially the author's claim to have met with George Washington. Condition of this set: Extremities rubbed, internal foxing, overall good and sound. Size: 16mo (very small). 2-volume set (complete). Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing.
