Sobre este artículo
National Physical Laboratory. Interdepartmental Study Group on the Application of Computer Techniques in Clerical Work. Wage accounting by electronic computer. London: H. M. Stationery Office, 1956. Original white printed wrappers. [2], 57 [1]pp. Text diagrams. 244 x 152 mm.
The first report of the study group formed at Britain's National Physical Laboratory (NPL) in 1954 to investigate the application of electronic digital computers to business work. "In the U.S.A. a number of the largest and fastest types of computers are being applied to business work. In this country there has been only one application of this nature" (p. 1). The focus of this report is on the automation of payroll work. The NPL in England occupies a position similar to the National Bureau of Standards (NBS) in the United States. Like the NBS, the NPL played a pioneer role in the development of electronic digital computers. Origins of Cyberspace 808.
