A collection of prose interpretations and lyric translations of Richard Wagner's opera works. Containing 'The Flying Dutchman', 'Tristan and Isolde', 'The Mastersingers of Nuremberg', and more. Illustrated with a frontispiece. Told by Filson Young, a journalist. He is known for writing the first book about the sinking of the Titanic in 1912, only thirty-seven days after the ship sunk. Young was also a war correspondent in the Boer War and in World War I. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front free endpaper, '1st Prize - Music, C. Belfield, d. d. Richard Ridcock, R. Douglas Slater, July 1925'. With 'Bramcote Scarborough' in gilt to the front board. In a full calf prize binding. Externally, smart. Light rubbing to the spine. A little fading to the spine. A few very light marks to the boards. The odd spot to the fore edge. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with the odd spot. Very Good Indeed

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
