An excellent account of how America moved, before the automobile. A fairly thorough history of the accoutrements of overland wagon travel. Text and numerous illustrations showing the wagons they used: Conestoga, Concord, Buckboards, Surreys, Borax wagons, Escort wagons, Army wagons, Ox Carts, etc., and the horses, mules, and oxen used, what wagons hauled, how the horses and mules were packed, saddles and bridles used, etc. All profusely illustrated by Nick Eggenhofer. This book is quite scarce and sought after, especially in this nice condition and with the signature..

The Argonaut Book Shop was founded in 1941 in the middle of the financial district of San Francisco. The Argonaut was a founding member of the Antiquarian Booksellers\' Association of America and has been a member in good standing ever since. The Shop is now located just three blocks from Union Square in downtown San Francisco and is open six days a week. Parking facilities include ample street space and a parking garage close by.
