Sobre este artículo

Cincinnati: H. W. Derby & Co., 1850. Original publisher's brown cloth, front and rear boards blind embossed decoration, gilt title and blind embossed spine, (7 ½ x 5 ¼ inches), 349 pages. First Edition/First Printing (with page 269 misnumbered page 26). This book recounts an early Lewis Garrard (1829-1887) expedition, which includes the only first-hand account of the trial and hanging of six Mexicans and Pueblos who had revolted against the U.S. rule of New Mexico. Additionally it contains an "anthropologically accurate" account of the Cheyenne Indians, as well as the adventures of such personages as Kit Carson, Jim Beckwourth, Ceran St. Vrain, George F. Ruxton, William Bent, and many others. "An important Southwest book by a perceptive observer and a thoroughly captivating writer." Provenance: owner's signature of W. Shoemaker on front pastdown. Showing some expected overall general wear and rubbing with chipping at head and tail, internally typical light page toning. A desirable copy of a scarce and important title. Graff 1513; Howes G-70; Rader 1538; Rittenhouse 236; Sabin 26687; Streeter I:170; Tutorow 3428; Wagner-Camp-Becker 182.. First Edition. Cloth. Very Good. Octavo.
