Boston: The Limited Editions Club, 1936. Limited Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. Edward Steichen. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. One of 1500 numbered copies [#620] bound quarter black cloth with decorated paper over boards; gilt lettering to the spine; green topstain, other edges untrimmed. Illustrated throughout with black and white plates from photographs. Some shelfwear to the outer edges of boards and tp the head and heel of the spine; previous owner's plate to the front pastedown, as well as a stamp to the recto of the rear endpage. Outer page edges lightly browned. Signed by Steichen on the limitations page.
Sinopsis
Walden (first published as Walden; or, Life in the Woods) by Henry David Thoreau is an American classic. The work is part personal declaration of independence, social experiment, voyage of spiritual discovery, and manual for self reliance. Published in 1854, it details Thoreau's sojourn in a cabin near Walden Pond, amidst woodland owned by his friend and mentor Ralph Waldo Emerson, near Concord, Massachusetts.
