In 1858, thirty-eight years after the African slave trade was made illegal, the slave ship "Wanderer" docked at Jeckyll Island, Georgia with a 400 African slaves aboard. The author recounts that story in this carefully researched book. Contains an index and source notes in the rear.Original maroon cloth publisher's covers with gilt spine lettering. There are two previous owner names on the top edge of the front free end paper, else this is a nice clean, tight and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings and no bookplates. The dust jacket has an "Authographed Copy" sticker on the lower corner, else it is also in nice condition with no chips, tears, or creases. ; B&W Illustrations; 8vo, 8"- 9" tall; 298 pages; Signed by Author .
