Orig. published by Harper & Bros in 1958, this is the First British Edition, first printing from Hutchinson of London, 1959, described as "startling to the extreme to British readers" in its "undeviatingly honest & unequivocal statement of the attitude of top-level military men in the United States to war & peace," arguing that the Third World War began in 1945 & continues.with America in an incredibly vulnerable position." In 287 pages with Index, photo frontispiece, pristine fold out map in rear, Index, Glossary. Hardcover book has flat black cloth-covered boards with a silver spaceship design to front/silver lettering to spine. Condition is Near Fine: exceptionally clean, binding tight & square, pages creamy white with just a whisper of tanning to edges. Old price in pen on ffep; NO other writing/underlining/highlighting; not ex-lib. Only flaw is bumping to top outer corner of front board. The unclipped DJ is also Near Fine, with just a hint of edgewear all around & tanning to spine; NO fading, tears, or chipping. Nicely protected in new mylar cover Free!
