Country Life. -, 196064. 1st. Ed.. Four volume set with 66 colour plates by Peter Scott. 4to. Fine hardbacks in vg. to thor. vg. dws., with a little restoration (now in loose fitting, clear protective covers). Quite superb, large (10cm x 7cm), inkpen illus. of a Red-breasted Goose by Peter Scott (signed and dated 1957) to the ffep. Furthermore, comes with a letter from Philippa Scott to Lady Lathbury. The illustration of the Red-breasted Goose is very nicely detailed and shows the bird in flight. Alongside it sits the large, bold, signature of Peter Scott. Philippa Scott�s letter is particularly interesting. It is dated 8th November 1989 and in it (amongst other pieces of her news) she mentions the very recent return of Prongy (then Slimbridge�s oldest Swan) and that she felt this was a clear indication of how well the Trust was performing. Sir Peter had passed away just a few months earlier (in August) that year.
