Self-Published, 1894. No Binding. Near Fine/New. About the card: Index card measures 2x3 inches. 3/4 inch discoloration left hand side. Residue on back side of card. Near fine condition. Archibald Lampman has written the last four lines from his poem "We Too Shall Sleep" The lines are: In the same silent plot O little friend/Side by the side/In peace that changeth not, nor knoweth end/we too shall sleep./ Archibald Lampman. He wrote this poem in August, 1894, shortly after the death of his second child, Arnold. His son was less than four months old when he died. Archibald Lampman died five years later at the age of 38 and now rests beside his son in Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa, Ontario.
