Sobre este artículo

Glendale: The Arthur H. Clark Company, 1974 First edition. One of 1613 copies. 254 pp. Illustrations, bibliography, index. Red cloth, gilt. A very fine copy. John Simpson Smith was an early fur trapper and spent his entire life on the frontier. He was introduced to the national reading public in Louis Garrard's Wah-to-Yah and the Taos Trail, published in 1848. Includes information on fur trapping, Bent's Fort trader, 30 years with the Cheyenne and Arapaho, official government interpreter, Fort Laramie, Fort Wise, adviser to Indian agents, Army scout and guide, witness to the Sand Creek Massacre, and more. Smith became familiar enough on the frontier to have his picture in Harper's Magazine and to have a listing in the Encyclopedia Britannica. [Clark and Brunet I: 122; Clark and Brunet II: 142]..
