First edition, limited to 2,064 copies. "At the time of the publication of this work, J. Ross Browne had yet to receive solid biographical treatment.This work is principally documentary in nature, although the author provides a thorough assessment of Browne's significance at the end of the book. Also included is a bibliographical listing of the writings of Browne in serial publications and in books, documentary reports and pamphlets." Volume XIII in the Western Frontiersman Series. Original red cloth binding, with gilt stamping. Negligible crease to a corner of the folding map. Small ex-libris label to the front flyleaf.
