New York: Hunt & Eaton, 1894. Decorative Cloth. Good/No Jacket. Frank Beard. Hardcover, no DJ, 399 pages, 100 line illus. by Frank Beard, all edges of text block bright gold gilt, 9 1/2 x 7"". Maroon board binding w/ extensive stamped designs & gold gilt lettering & oval title frame on front, gold lettering on spine. Binding Fair, esp. for age- light soil, some rubbing, edge wear, frays, corner bumps, spine title block (2"" x 2"") partly separated from spine. Front & back boards were separated, but at one time appear to have been professionally re- hinged w/ flexible hinge strips placed under existing & handsome peacock feather design endpapers- nicely done. All gilt on cover & spine is crisp & intact. Despite flaws noted, overall this copy displays quite well. Text itself is VG; only light toning- tight, clean, unmarked, w/ no cracks in text block.
