What the Boys Did Over There

New York: Allied Overseas Veterans' Stories Co., Inc., 1919. This is probably a First Edition but is not stated as such and includes no later printing history. This incredible work is dedicated to those "boys" from World War I who are buried in Belgium and France by their surviving comrades, each one telling his own story of his involvement in the War to End All Wars. Of course, these true stories of war were written more than 90 years ago, and so all the boys are dead now. But their words will keep the memory of these American, Canadian, English, and Scottish heroes alive. They include Jesse W. Wade, Jack Winston, Al. Barker, Frank J. Sears, A.F. Edwards, George Eckhart, T.S. Grundy, Alexander Gibb, F.G. McAvity, Frederick Ralph Muir, George Oxton, John Miller, Jack Kneeland, Mark L. Nicholson, E.D.G. Aylen, Harry Hall, and Edmund Hall. The book is bound in red cloth that shows some light wear and edge rubbing. The gilt titles are a little tarnished but readable. The bottom right corner is bumped. The book's interior is tightly bound and the pages are clean and bright throughout. In addition to a frontis drawing, there are photographs of the many authors in uniform. The book has the signature of the original owner on the front free endpaper. The book measures 5 1/4 by 7 5/8 inches and includes 186 pages. . Hard Cover.
