Sobre este artículo
New York, New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1902. First Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. Misses Adelia & Lina Beard were pioneering feminists who founded one of the first organizations for girls, which later became the Campfire Girls. This book was published as a companion volume to the authors' "The American Girls Handy Book,'' dedicated to the "strong, healthy, independent, athletic American girl" of the new (20th) century, designed to help her to be healthy in mind & body. Illustrated by the authors throughout the book's 391 pages (over 600 drawings, as well as full-page plates on glossy paper), with Index & 4 pages of ads for other similar books in rear. A FIRST EDITION from Oct. 1902 (not a modern reprint!), this hardcover book is in VG condition: red cloth-covered boards are lavishly decorated in gilt, black, & white on both front & spine. Very clean, with a few dark spots in front matter. Stitched binding is secure, though loosening in center. Pages show extremely mild toning & mild rubbing to extremities. Article by the author cut from a newspaper pasted inside back cover, with lovely period illustrations. Former owner's name in pen on ffep, along with lovely vintage bookplate inside front cover featuring a women draped in the American flag, else unmarked. No DJ, as issued (never came with one). Our photos depict the Ex act book you will receive from us, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same day shipping on all orders received by 2 pm Weekdays (Pacific); later orders, Weekends & holidays ship very next business day.
