Sobre este artículo

United Kingdom: T. Payne. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. 8 1/2" tall brown hardcover (probably hard leather). A bit of bumping and rubbing along edges of boards. Minor general shelf wear to boards. There is a bookplate on the inside front board. FFEP is detached. Pages are tight. Pages appear clean/unmarked but with minimal foxing. This is a bit of a strange book. I can't find any others on-line. I'm not sure if it was actually printed this way or if two books were combined and put together. The spine states "Whately on Gardening & Anderson on Planting" They appear to be written by Thomas Whately and Agricola (James Anderson). The title page of the first book reads "OBSERVATIONS ON MODERN GARDENING, Illustrated by DESCRIPTIONS" Printed for T. Payne, at the Mews-gate, MDCCLXX" This is 257 pages. Followed by a page that says "MISCELLANEOUS OBSERVATIONS ON PLANTING, $c." With a following page "MISCELLANEOUS OBSERVATIONS ON PLANTING AND TRAINING TIMBER-TREES; PARTICULARLY CALCULATED FOR THE CLIMATE OF SCOTLAND. In s Series of Letters. By AGRICOLA. Printed for Charles Elliot, Edinburgh; and Thomas Cadell, London. M, DCC, LXXVII" This is 230 pages. The book is showing really minimal wear particularly for its age. The name on the bookplate is "George de Ligne Gregory. I found someone with that name who was a High Sheriff of Nottinghamshire in 1791 and "Held" Harlaxton Manor. I can't say if this book was actually owned by that particular man or not. (For International Shipments: As I am unable to insure international shipments, all responsibility for this book once it is mailed, is upon the buyer. No claims for damage or loss will be accepted by the seller).
